Shatter Punks
Quick and Simple Guide

Toxins accumulate in special glands beneath the surface of the skin, causing brightly colored mottling to appear over the temples, jaw, neck, and hands.

Materials

  • Blue Squid Pro: Professional Face and Body Paint

  • Makeup brushes (included in body paint)

  • Naroa Natural Sea Sponges

You may also consider the use of alcohol-activated makeup pallets, which will not run off from sweat! They are more expensive, and you have to be careful near the eyes, but the application is about the same.

Steps

  • Wash face and moisturize.

  • Select between 1 and 3 colors you think will look good together. We suggest a dark tone, middle tone, and a highlight.

  • Thoroughly wet a sea sponge and mostly squeeze it out. It should be wet, but not dripping.

  • Ball up one of your sea sponges for easy application. You want it to be irregular with lots of holes and shapes but still controllable.

  • Dab your sponge thoroughly in the makeup pallet. It should be saturated in pigment.

  • Gently daub the sponge over the surface of the skin, starting very light until you know how firmly to press to get the desired effect. If you press too hard, it will smear.

  • Gently layer the 3 colors one over the other.

    • Experiment with the colors in some test applications to see what order you like them in.

    • We generally find that layering dark, then medium, then a few light highlights on top works best, but it’s different for every color combo!

    • Try to give the paint a little drying time between each layer to prevent smearing and color mixing.

    • Don’t forget to work a little into your hairline and ears to give it a natural look.

  • Seal the face paint with a Barrier Spray to protect from sweat and smudging, such as Mehron Barrier Spray. *Many people have sensitivities to Barrier Sprays, so test a small patch of skin before covering your face in a product.
